Prada was established by his founder Mario Prada in Milan in 1913. Mario Prada was an innovater in travel items, accessories and luxury goods. The first boutique was openned in the prestigious Galleria Vittorio EmanueleII in the heart of the city. Prada products combined the finest materials, first-rate manufacturing techniques, and cutting -edge design, and soon became a standard-bearer for leather accessories and precious objects from around the world.
In 1919 Prada became an official supplier to Italy's royal household and as such earned the right to incorporate the coat of arms and the knotted-rope insignia of the House of Savoy into its trademark logo. The dynamic growth of a family business into a global powerhouse started at the end of the 1970's when Miuccia Prada, Mario's granddaughter, joined forces with the entrepreneur Patrizio Bertelli. The partnership of these twin talents launched a new era for the company. Today the prada group operates in seventy-eight countries, 7200 employees and is producing seven and a half million items a year.
The book is a clear overlook from the early begining in 1913 to 2009, a chronological overview in eight rich documented chapters of almost 100 years in producung luxury. More then being only a catalogue the book is rather a source of inspiration for designers. The succes of Prada is laying in a constant search of quality in design and products and the obvious refusal of any compromise. The supurb lay-out of this exceptionnal book, quality of the photography and impresive printing quality is in absolute harmony with the company's philosophy of quality.
